Dogs And Cats Off The Menu

My letter to Mark Ching:

My letter to all citizens of Korea:

It must be very difficult for you because of your fellow Koreans who practice the unimaginable cruel ways of eating dogs and cats.

The world sees what is happening and is condemning Korea. They are saying that there is no other way but to boycott all things Korean. Rather than Korea being a nation that you can be proud of, it is becoming a shameful nation. Many American households have items that are made in Korea as Americans consider them to be of good quality, and they don’t mind purchasing with their hard earned money. But now, many are saying that they will boycott Korea altogether, not only in America but also from all over the world. They are now committing to not visit Korea, especially the Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics and to not purchase items that are made in Korea. Frightening, isn’t it? They are not going to support a nation that allows the practice of barbaric animal cruelty. So barbaric are the images that are made available world-wide that they, even though have great desires to visit Korea, are too afraid to do so. It is so sad to think about all the innocent hard-working Koreans, including my own family who lives there, that they might suffer as a result of our boycott.

Dear citizens of Korea, please have courage! Unify! The whole world has unified for this campaign – YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We promise to be on your side! Why? Because we are committed to campaign until this matter is resolved. Why would foreigners interfere or get involved in a matter outside their country? Because we consider cruelty to animals to be a humanitarian issue and not a national one. Why did America get involved in the Korean war in 1950? Because it was a humanitarian issue.

Yes, this IS about the animals but it is about the world citizens, too. I have suffered greatly for the last 30 years since I saw a skull-numbing and soul-crushing documentary on HBO. The images in the HBO show have never left my mind and soul and haunt my days and nights. Since my first public protest in New York City 10 days ago, I haven't slept. I am not well. I weep all the time. I am on the computer on Facebook and Twitter posting but in reality pleading my heart and guts out... And there are so many, many more just like me, I am finding out. I am meeting people like me online from all over the world... they cannot sleep at night either, they hear the same screams that I do... PLEASE...................... MAKE THE SCREAMS STOP, PLEASE........................................................................................................................

Let’s speak up for the voiceless animals. Do not let Korea be rescued by another country again! Make Korea a great nation that it already is but remove the tarnish by abolishing this cruel and barbaric practice and change your laws to protect the animals, acknowledge them as sentient beings in order for it to shine brightly.

To quote my wise, hardworking younger brother, who currently lives in Korea with his beautiful family: " IF ALL ANIMALS ARE JUST ANIMALS, THEN HUMANS ARE JUST ANIMALS, TOO."

Use social media. Campaign. Ask us for help. Any time. The world citizens are more than willing to help you in this cause. They are so desperate to help that some are even learning Korean.

LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER! IN SOLIDARITY WE CAN! DON'T STAND ALONE!
