Ping An A Fu Shelter rescued

19th Dec 2016 - At the LiuHe slaughter yard, Ping An A Fu warriors rushed in and blocked the knives of the slaughters from chopping down on the dogs. At that moment, all dogs were showing extreme fear, confusion and despair. In front of the volunteers were chopped up dog meat, parts of corpse laying around every where. Already skinned whole bodies were hanging on ropes.. The blood on ground and boards is so bright red and the horrible odor filled the air. Though inside of the volunteers is also extreme fear, shock and almost collapsing down, Ms. Ha led the volunteers and they acted quickly and picked up every single one of the dogs out of that hell and brought to Ping An A Fu shelter safely.

Two slaughter houses in one da!!!

2nd December 2016, 55 large and medium sized dogs were saved. 38 are from TianShan market and 17 from Golden Treasure market.

Ping An A Fu volunteers were horrified by the scene and took the dogs out of there as fast as they could.

RESCUE 1202 Success

The rule in China requires each dog registered. The evil dog meat dealers have no legal evidence. These dogs are other's family who were kidnapped, or poisoned. These meat dealers even kill sick dogs.

It is extremely sad to see so many of the dogs are still wearing collars. Owners's careless practice has put their pets into horrendous slaughter houses. Just heart breaking!

RESCUE 1202 Success

The slaughter houses are dark jails. The floors were covered by wastes, blood, and fur just like the pictures in Horror movie with metal hooks and cutting boards, and knives dripping with flood.

RESCUE 1202 Success

Most dogs are wounded on all legs and feet, from ropes and wires binding them for long time.

RESCUE 1202 Success

Ping An A Fu will arrange meetings with dogs for owners after the quarantine period. In China, there are so many dog meat dealers, and to avoid the dogs going into the hands of the evil people, they do very strict checking to rid off fake documentations. Ping An A Fu forbids criminals getting close to the dogs!

Some of the dogs were in appalling condition due to being left in the freezing cold with their legs tied with wire to prevent them from escaping >> This is yet another reason that China needs an animal protection law and these slaughter houses and butchers need to be punished.

6th November 2016 - Jeju Island is a popular tourist destination off the south tip of the Korean peninsula. That is where 19 dogs were recently rescued and shipped all the way to the Free Korean Dogs rescue shelter north west of Seoul.

The dogs were all owned by a resident of Jeju Island, who recently fell sick. The person was attempting to sell all the dogs to a dog meat dealer, when we heard about them. Of course, we said we would rescue the dogs rather than see them fall into the hands of the dog meat trade.

“The animals were in extremely poor shape when we arrived,” said CAPP activist Biao Han of the group taken from the restaurant. Eight or nine were close to death. Two dogs too weak to lift their heads still wagged their tails when petted. “These dogs could have been snatched from people’s backyards or grabbed off the streets,” said Biao....Read more

An illegal dog meat truck with more than 300 dogs was reported to the police by citizens and with the help of volunteers, stopped in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, just 200km from its destination, the city of Changchun, home of what we think must be the highest concentration of large-scale dog slaughterhouses in China. Rescue groups and individuals from Beijing, Tianjin, QInhuangdao and Dalian (including the awesome Dalian Weishan) were all involved.
In the northern dog meat corridor (routes going through Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei to Northeastern slaughterhouses), trucks are being stopped by volunteers every month.

It took me a long time to be okay. A long time to push myself past the cut in my veins.

I still see it. When I close my eyes, I breathe it. But I tell myself, in the moment the stars fall from me into hell. When I catch the tears that rip like blades into the self. I know this is the path. I know for now, this is where my blood spills.

In any story. In every war that is waged. In every single revolution. In every day the heart stops to beat and pray. There are people that make it what it is. People that help pull together the pieces.

And while I never got a chance to publicly thank them. I give tribute to each of the volunteers who left their lives to journey half way around the world, to help rescue the thousand lives.

It was your hands that filled cages with the suffering. Your hands that helped to pull beating hearts from destruction.

Forever, yesterday, and till my lungs lose the will to breathe - you are friends. Soldiers to the revolution.

Ben Mullins. Daniel Wilfred. Travis Seurattan. Ada Kwok. Roberto Pirelli. Deborah Hall. Lai Ling. Jess Henderson. Athena Ho. Lia Lee. And Ms Helen Reed.

Thank you also to Jeffery Beri and Suki. You are our eyes, our ears, and the heart out there in Yulin. They have set up medical care systems, and maintenance regimes so our dogs in China can sustain life and find the promise we spoke of in the beginning. Words could never say how much you are appreciated.

Till the end of time. From my breaking heart to your feet. I bow my head. I drop to my knees.

The Lewis and Clark Humane Society is preparing to welcome nine Korean meat-farm dogs! The dogs will be flown from Seoul, Korea and will be placed for adoption through LCHS – read on for more details!
How did this all come about you might ask? When shelter staff was at the Animal Care Expo in Las Vegas a few months ago, they ran into our good friend Adam Parascandola from the Humane Society of the United States. We worked closely with Adam during the Chilinski Malamute cruelty case and have maintained a working relationship with him since. Adam recently took on a new role in the international division of HSUS and has been spending lots of time in Korea working to shut down the many dog meat farms…we mentioned that we would love to be able to help with the project in any way that we could, and much to our surprise, we were shortly contacted by Adam to see if we would be willing to take some dogs…we said HECK YES!
As it stands, we are preparing to receive 9 dogs that were rescued from a Korean chicken/dog meat farm! We knew it was meant to be when we learned that one dog is named “Hellena”. These dogs are flying directly from Korea to Denver and will arrive on July 5th, where staff members Holly and Owen will pick them up. After a brief overnight stay in a partner shelter in Denver, they will drive them back to the shelter! The dogs themselves have been living with a Korean woman, Jinoak Oh, who raised funds to buy the dogs from the meat farmer – they have been with her for several months and appear to be quite social.
We are VERY excited about this for several reasons – the first being the opportunity to give these dogs a safe, happy place to stay on their journey to finding a forever home - and helping animals and communities in need is the right thing to do. This is an important project for the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, not only for the lives of these dogs but also because it represents the first time we have reached beyond international borders to make a positive impact on animal welfare. Although our focus remains on making the most impact here at home, we have talented staff and volunteers who are always willing and eager to help wherever help is needed. We also believe deeply in this program. There has been a movement by the younger Korean generations to end dog meat farming, and HSUS has been a tremendous force in assisting the Korean people in this HUGE task. Some people have expressed concern regarding outside parties entering into foreign countries and trying to impose American culture on the citizens of said countries – in this case, the help was requested and the program that HSUS has put into place not only aids farmers in ending their practice, but also provides them with a sustainable crop to replace the income that was earned selling dog meat. It’s a win-win for all parties involved.
Another exciting aspect of this adventure is that the dogs are true Jindo dogs – a Korean breed that are moderately sized and similar to the Shiba Inu. They are known for their unique and feisty personalities. The dogs, which are already vaccinated and spayed or neutered, will be available for adoption on July 15th, giving locals a special opportunity to adopt a breed that’s otherwise rare in Montana
We’ll be documenting our journey to Denver and back and posting lots of updates along the way so that friends, family, and supporters can follow along on this incredible adventure! We also hope to live-broadcast the airport pickup – so stay tuned for updates!
Please LIKE and SHARE this post to spread the word about the Korean meat-farm dogs that will soon be arriving at LCHS!

27th June 2016 - 246 Dogs rescued

Kunming - CHINA

China

Another, truck packed with 246 dogs was stopped in Kunming, China on route to Yulin. Kindly, a Buddhist group offered their Temple backyard for housing the dogs temporarily. One activist summed up the emotions of the group, “We are happy that we stopped this one but sad the other one got away. And I don't even want to think about how many trucks got away undetected."
Taking into account the June 23 rescues plus the dogs on these two trucks means almost 1,000 more dogs are casualties of the dog meat trade – all within the last 48 hours and 2 days AFTER the hated Yulin Dog Meat Festival.

This means This whole truck of the dogs will have 21 days quarantine, because the dog meat traders can not provide a legitimate quarantine certificates, If due these 21-day quarantine , The dog dealers still don't want to give up their ownership of these dogs. Then they only need pay for the expense for the quarantine. then take away all the dogs ! But from the past experience , the dog dealers normally will give up their ownership between these 21 days! because the cost is a lot for quarantine.

When we first met Florence in the video above, she was timid and afraid to come out of her makeshift dog house. She was so emaciated that we had to give her time to gain strength before making her journey to safety.

Fortunately, her luck is about to change. By next week, she’ll be safe at a U.S. shelter, where she’ll receive all necessary veterinary care before her adoption into a loving forever home.

Our Animal Rescue Team landed safely in South Korea and was at the dog meat farm today, rescuing 50 dogs from slaughter. Please make an urgent gift to support this and future life-saving rescues.

Dogs caught up in this trade suffer enormously. They're crammed into filthy cages and transported for long hours in horrific conditions, then brutally butchered for profit as part of the dog meat trade. Many of them are family pets. You can help them.

In the past year, HSI has shut down four dog meat farms in South Korea, assisted in the rescue of more than 8,000 dogs from trucks headed for slaughter, and have made great strides in shutting down China’s infamous Yulin dog meat festival.
