25th June 2017 Bo Ai Animal Protection Centre Of Guangyuan save 13 cats

On the day of the Summer Solstice, when the festival officially began, we went to the Yulin Food and Drug Administration to talk about the 'festival' and the big slaughterhouse at Yulin intersection. We reported to the officials but they did not answer our questions.
Later, Du and Andreas rescued 13 cats. At Dongkou market and the surrounding farmer's market, they witnessed the brutal killings of companion animals! On the day of the festival they rescued 13 cats from slaughter. Most of them are very weak, bodies are full of hurt, they are skinny, dirty and smelly from being squashed into chicken cages for so long. The terrible scenes make people grieve.
The cats were flown from Nanning to Chengdu and then taken to our shelter in Guangyuan where they were left to settle in for the night and explore their new surroundings. A lucky escape for these cats!

For now, you can help these new arrivals by donating towards their rehabilitation. Once they are healthy, they will be looking for a forever home. If you can offer one of these cats a home in the future, please contact us.

22nd June 20177 - Yulin news from Marc Ching (The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation)

China

We stopped two trucks on the eve of Yulin. Because of pressure by police and authorities, we kept information about the intercept off grid until the dogs had made it to the safe zone.

There are about 400 dogs on the first truck. And about 100 on the second. In order to liberate and free them, we paid the driver off to release the load, so the transport would not be taken like the prior intercept.

While thousands upon thousands were brutally slaughtered this year at Yulin - it is the Chinese activists that have been heroic, stopping trucks and collectively saving thousands.

There is movement being created, fueled by the youth and upcoming generation. It is the voice of the masses, and the hands of those on the ground that will change it. The activists are speaking. And the people - there is hope for the animals.

RESCUE 619

China

19th June 2017: Activists on the ground have intercepted a dog slaughter truck bound for Guangzhou from Qingyuan.

A truck with hundreds of dogs on nine layers of wire cages was stopped on the highway in Guangzhou.

Activists from Guangzhou region and nearby cities have converged on the highway.

The dogs shall soon be unloaded by the activists.

This VIDEO shows the rescue from start to finish.
Please be patient from the adverts in the start of the video

20th June update from Marc Ching

We honor and thank the Chinese activists and people, who are standing up everyday to protect and fight for these animals. They stopped the truck. They freed these dogs from bondage. And in the end, it is they that need to push for legislation in order to change things.

For people who want to support these dogs, donations should be made directly to the rescuers with local shelters themselves - who are taking in the dogs. Not to international groups now claiming to be involved in the rescue but were not.

Currently these dogs are at a shelter in Guangzhou, where they are being released from slaughter cages. Being given food and water, and will be divided amongst local groups with shelters to make caring for the liberated possible.

If you want to donate specifically to this rescue that you can donate to the The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation and put "for rescue 1200" in the MEMO section and once the dogs are divided, he will be distributing the donations to the reputable rescues. And also the AHWF China will be taking in some as well.

Update 26th June 2017

From the 1,200 initially rescued..600 approx have survived..Many of them died due to disease..stress and trauma and not being able to get Vets into the facilities..Activists were forced to move the dogs/cats on 3 occasions due to pressure from the villagers..the govt and insufficient/NO help from other orgs ..They are currently being stabilised at different shelters including Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation shelter and Dr Pan's Clinic/Shelter facility.

90 of the dogs had not been placed in a shelter yet, and thus had no where to go. They were named the "nobodies"

Miraculously Dr Pan said he will take full responsibility for the "nobodies" because he said "It's just not human to make them leave after everything they have been through."
AHWF will continue to help fundraise thru the PayPal they set up for these wonderful Chinese activists and will also help when called upon. Thank you to everyone for the amazing generosity and support!!!

18th June 2017 - Yulin news from Marc Ching (The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation)

China

Rescued last night from a slaughterhouse on the edge of Yulin. These dogs were being clubbed in the face, and skinned alive right in front us.

In the end we made the decision to save them. To spare the surviving - the fate of having to die from torture.

The transport just arrived at our shelter in Changsha. These dogs are in critical condition, and need support in order to stay alive. For those who are pro life, and disgusted with what happens in Yulin - this is a chance to give back. A chance to help the victims.

We intercepted our first truck today. Surrounded the transport with cars, pushed him off the highway into the shoulder lane.

The intercept was intense and frustrating. A situation met immediately with aggression - Chinese activists trying the take the load before they reached the edge of Yulin.

In the end the stand off broke, with activist numbers overpowering the driver. All the dogs have been loaded onto our transport and are safe. On route to our shelter in Changsha.

Two of the dogs had microchips, a Golden Retriver and a Terrier. Proof that dogs are being kidnapped and stolen for the festival.

A number of those on board were already dead, with some of the surviving injured. We have a full medical response team waiting at our shelter. And send our prayers to the survivors, as they make the journey towards freedom.

12th June 2017 Chinese police save 500 cats in cages meant for sale to restaurants in China, man arrested

China

A man was arrested in eastern China's Jiangsu province for allegedly capturing pet cats and stray cats to sell to restaurants for 30 yuan (S$6) per feline, Chinese media said. A raid by the Danyang city police uncovered more than 500 cats, all of which were later released. They were allegedly caught to be sold to restaurants in other Chinese cities, Chinese news site qq.com reported. The police told the media on Sunday (June 11) that a journalist had tipped them off about a batch of cats meant for sale on a truck. The cats were squeezed into tiny cages in the heat, and some of them were panting, with glazed eyes and mewling.

A villager who gave his name only as Mr Yang told the reporter that there were more cats in a hut nearby. Mr Yang had made a police report after his pet cats started to go missing, the South China Morning Post reported on Monday. At the hut, there were many more metal cages filled with different coloured cats, with a fan turned on to keep them from dying in the heat. Mr Yang said the man caught the cats by using sparrows as bait. Just last November, nearly 1,000kg of fresh and frozen cat meat was found in a raid of three buildings in Chengdu, in south-western Sichuan province. They were reportedly sold under the guise of rabbit meat.....Source

Ping An A Fu Shelter rescued

FB POST CLICK HERE

At noon time of Jan 23rd, we received news that a slaughter place near Liuhe (where we did rescue on Jan 19th) , was secretly killing dogs. Though we thought we stopped slaughter houses when we took away 55 dogs from Liuhe market place, another slaughter place started the dog killing again. Ms. Ha again contacted police. We were able to get the dogs out. Volunteers divided into two teams. One team was at the market rescue, another team was busy expanding the dog quarantine area. Expanded area is fenced, metal door installed, big cotton quilt is used for insulation and thick hay bedding is laid down for warmth. Food and water are also prepared. In several short hours, Ping An A Fu team spirit is highly effective.

The whole Ping An A Fu family can't survive by replying on couple individuals. Please support Ping An A Fu, no matter how little or how large of the support. Please help share too.

Ping An A Fu Shelter rescued

Jan 19th is the birthday of Ping An A Fu (Peace and Luck) Animal Rescue's founder Ms. Ha Wenjin. As volunteers are preparing for the fund raising evening party, they were told about the dogs in a slaughter house at Liuhe market city. Once again, they did what they did before: thunder attack. In the very early morning, they ran into the market city and 55 dogs waiting to be killed were there. Ms. Ha received her big present: 55 dogs.

Ping An A Fu Shelter rescued

Dog and cat thieves and slaughters are all aware of Ms. Ha's mission and her determination. When she arrived at the illegal slaughter house, the whole market city is overwhelmingly quiet. Ms Ha and volunteers took all the dogs they could find at the slaughter house. Though we can't end the dog meat industry or stop the behavior of dog and cat dealers, in Nanjing, these dealers are clear that if their slaughtering is reported, Ms. Ha will appear with Police. This is a good thing.

Junk Yard Meat Farm, Project 70 Dogs. South Korea Nami Kim

Nami Kim has taking over the Junk Yard Meat dogs. She had hoped for other rescue organizations to step up and help but sadly, no-one did! This means that Nami will be taking on 70 more sweet souls under her wing.

All of the dogs are malnourished, many are sick. None of them have ever had their paws touch the ground, none of them have ever seen the sun. They were born into darkness and lived in there their entire short lives. They have never known the touch of a loving hand or the sound of a warm, soft voice and yet, these beautiful dogs allow the farmers to handle them in such rough manners with no hint of aggression.
