Pumpkin was rescued at the peak of dog meat trade. At that time I was already involved in rescuing dogs from meat trade , every week hundreds and hundreds dogs were caught from the trade and there wasn't a proper organization to help out so dog lovers would volunteer to help any way they can. Pumpkin was rescued and placed in Burirum shelter.
A lady from Soi Dog Foundation went to do sterilization at Burirum and Pumpkin caught her attention as he was the only terrier there. He must had been someone 's pet because he didn't know how to fend for himself and was hiding under a bamboo bench, very sick . The lady posted her and other few dogs on FB asking if anyone would be interested. I offered to be Pumpkin and another dog's sponsor, hoping to rehome him.
Soi Dog lady couldn't bring him to Bangkok right away as she was on sterilization trip and had to come back a week later to get him. Pumpkin was very sick and the vet said he may not make it by the time she returned. Fortunately Pumpkin was still there and was taken to Soi Dog Foundation in Bangkok.
I found a wonderful home for Pumpkin in England, but to go he needed 3 months waiting period. While waiting to go there was an outbreak of distemper at the center. I decided to take Pumpkin to my house then I fell for him. I asked the English adopter if I could keep him and the rest is history
