DUODUO Animal Welfare
9th November 2015 - On November 7, the first-ever conference on "Civic codes concerning animal Welfare and environmental studies" was held in Beijing. The conference chairperson was Mr. Jiwen Chang, the Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, who previously attended a Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project/HSI conference in August in Washington D.C. Over 100 Chinese scholars, lawyers, and officials attended this Beijing conference. The purpose of the conference was to lay down a foundation for animal welfare and environmental actions for Chinese civil code development and policy.
DUODUO Animal Welfare
Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project co-sponsored the "2nd U.S.-China Animal Law Forum" on August 19-20 in Washington D.C with Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), University of Houston-Downtown, Humane Society International (HSI), Cozen O’Connor, and Northwest China University of Law and Politics.
The forum took place at an important time for both countries. China is in the process of amending its Wildlife Protection Law with the aim of submitting the revised draft for a preliminary deliberation at the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress at the end of the year.
Although the forum focused on much needed wildlife protection, many members of the Chinese delegation will also be involved in efforts to draft animal protection laws in the future. Sponsoring this forum helps build important relationships with the leading experts and players who can influence China's future efforts in animal protection policy change.
With your donation Duo Duo was able to co-sponsor (with Humane Society International) this much needed conference on May 29 & 30 in TianJin city:
"The Summer Camp of Young Volunteers for Animal Protection"
50 young activists who have been involved with recent highway rescues were invited to this educational conference. Both Chinese and American speakers from many professions - lawyers, animal behaviorists, animal emergency management specialists, campaign managers and teamwork specialists - were on hand to help these brave young people gain the knowledge needed to carry out more successful rescue works and to develop better strategies in the future.
DDAWP (Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project) is an all-volunteer, U.S. 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

FCI WORLD DOG SHOW NEWS
"The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the major federation of kennel clubs, hosts the World Dog Show every year. 10,000 dogs enter the competition, which has been called the "world's most important dog show."
10,000 is also the number of dogs eaten each year at the Yulin dog-meat eating festival in China - where FCI is planning to host the 2019 World Dog Show. As long as the government of China has not stopped the horrific Yulin Dog Meat Eating Festival, it is not acceptable that the largest worldwide dog organization will support and arrange its biggest annual dog competition in such a country. Several clubs have already withdrawn given the controversy over holding a Dog Show and then sanctioning the death and torture of so many dogs within the dog meat trade."

British MP's Condemn The Dog Meat Trade
21st Feb 2015
Dame Judi and Downton Abbey stars Lesley Nicols and Peter Egan, attended a briefing for MPs on how to bring an end to the appalling trade in dog meat.
They have called on MPs to put pressure on the governments of countries where dogs are slaughtered for human consumption to take action to end the production, trade and killing of dogs and cats for their meat.
More than 20 MPs, including shadow Home Office minister, Steve Reed, and Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington, John McDonnell, have pledged action on the issue...
We, the undersigned MP’s, hereby call upon the governments of Cambodia, China, Laos PDR, Indonesia, South Korea, The Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam to take action to end the production, trade in, and slaughtering of dogs and cats for the purposes of meat and by-products.
In recognition of:
1. The mounting body of evidence linking the consumption of such meat to human health and disease transmission notably cholera and trichinellosis.
2. The universal acceptance that the uncontrolled movement of unvaccinated dogs is the main cause for the spread of rabies.
3. The increasing number of pet animals brutally stolen for the purpose of meat and skin production.
4. The significant impact the production of, trade in, slaughtering and consumption of dog and cat meat poses to animal welfare.
5. The increasing awareness of the suffering of fur bearing animals, including dogs and cats, whose skin and fur products are widely exported and sold.
There can be no excuse for the intolerable suffering and cruelty these animals are facing as a result of this trade. The time has come to end it.
